Maybe for example YouTube or Photos/Photos – where panning the device to landscape gives a better full screen viewing experience. If you leave Orientation Lock on by default, every time you open the aforementioned Apps, you’ll have to turn it off in Control Center/Control Center – and turn it back on when you’re no longer using it. Obviously, this takes time – and fortunately, there is a tool to help you automate the turning off and on of Orientation Lock for each specific App. Here are the steps to install: + You need to launch the application Shortcuts/Shortcuts > Automation/Automation. + Click the + icon in the upper right corner then select Create Personal Automation / Create personal automation item. + Scroll down and select Apps. + Make sure that the options Is Opened/Opened and Is Closed/Closed are selected then continue to click Choose/Options in blue. + Select the Apps for which you want the automation to work (e.g. YouTube and Photos), then press Done/Done. + Click Next/Next and Add Action/Add action. Your automation will now be saved in the Shortcuts app and will be activated the next time you open or close the Apps you have selected. However, it should also be noted that if Orientation Lock is turned off and you open one of the selected Apps, then orientation lock will be re-enabled, which may be the opposite effect you intended.
